Climate Change in Europe

by Shayan Attar

Hello everyone! My name is Shayan ATTAR. I’m a student and I’m living in Luxembourg. In this video, I’m going to describe my imagination of Europe in 2050.

What do we know about climate change? Are we taking it seriously for our future?

In fact, climate change is already happening. Temperatures are rising, drought and wildfires are starting to occur more frequently, glaciers and snow are melting, and the global sea level is rising.

Experts say: “Global temperature rise should not exceed 2 degrees!” But, in the last 100 years, there has been recorded an increase of 1 degree in Europe.

Climate change affects both the people and the environment in Europe! It is estimated that from now, living people alive are 70% in the year 2050.

Now, let’s begin! I want to imagine Europe like this:

In 2050, We have made emission reduction. Emission reduction means development and implementation of new energy technology solutions.

We have replaced renewable energies with fossil fuels.

In 2050, we have made national legislation, international agreements, and EU directives to have a safer, cleaner and healthier environment.

In 2050, we have used the climate sub programme which provided €800 million in co-financing for climate projects.

I want to imagine in 2050, with our decisions of today, we have a clean, safe and healthy environment for our children to live.

Don’t forget to mitigate climate change, we must reduce these emissions.
